The Team

Bonovo action BMW Racing

Michael Galinski Motorradsport (MGM) has established itself in recent decades, particularly in the International German Motorcycle Championship. Michael himself was a successful racer for many years, winning the German Superbike championship title in 1986 and finishing runner-up in the German Superbike championship in 1989. He has been responsible for the team's involvement in the IDM since 2004 and can look back on numerous achievements.

In 2020, MGM joined forces with Bonovo action, a company owned by Jürgen Röder, who had already developed an unbridled passion for sidecar racing earlier. Thanks to the support of Bonovo action, the team was expanded and competed for years with, among others, the eight-time Sidecar World Champion from England, Tim Reeves, as well as great Sidecar riders such as the Dutchman Bennie Streuer, the Finn Pekka Päivärinta and the multiple German Champion, Josef Sattler.

Jonas Folger was the first rider to compete for Bonovo action in two-wheel racing in 2020, initially in the International German Motorcycle Championship, where, with the Superbike title in his pocket, he switched to BMW and to the Superbike World Championship together with Bonovo action in 2021.

In 2022, the Bonovo action BMW Racing Team secured the services of Northern Irishman Eugene Laverty and Frenchman Loris Baz. While the former, in well-deserved racing retirement, now holds a leading position in the team, Baz rode another year in WorldSBK alongside Garrett Gerloff. The talented Texan, who took pole position for the first time for Bonovo action BMW Racing in the 2023 Superbike World Championship, will also ride in the German team this season. His team-mate will be Scott Redding, who joins the crew in 2024 with a wealth of experience in the 125cc World Championship, Moto2, MotoGP, the British Superbike Championship and WorldSBK.

Driver

Garrett Gerloff
(USA, *01.08.1995 in The Woodlands, Texas)

Garrett Gerloff has spent the last decade climbing the motorcycle racing ladder in his native USA. After winning in smaller series, he raced in the MotoAmerica Superport class from 2015 and finished third straight away. He improved by one position the year after and was already a two-time Supersport Champion at the age of 22.

With this success, he switched to the MotoAmerica Superbike class in 2018 and showed a steep learning curve by finishing on the podium five times in his first season and finishing fifth overall. He secured third place in 2019 and switched to World Superbike in 2020.

In the WSBK, he took his first podium in Barcelona in his first year and the Texan also finished on the podium in the first race of 2021 and snatched another third place in 2022. At the same time, Gerloff raced the 2020 European Grand Prix in the MotoGP on Friday as a replacement for Valentino Rossi in the Yamaha Factory Team and took over the Yamaha YZR-M1 for one race in 2021.

In 2023, Gerloff joined the Bonovo action BMW Racing Team. Despite a bumpy start to the season, he really came into his own towards the second part of the year. In Magny-Cours, he took pole position and fourth place in the first race. In Portimao, the American battled for the podium and ultimately took two fourth places.

Driver

Scott Redding
(United Kingdom, *04.01.1993 Gloucester)

Scott Redding has been a household name on the motorcycle racing scene for a decade and after two years and twelve victories in WorldSBK, he will remain with BMW in 2024 and join the Bonovo action BMW Racing Team.

The now 31-year-old was only 15 years when he entered the MotoGP paddock for the first time to take part in the 125cc World Championship in 2008. He set the fastest lap in his debut race and took just eight races to win for the first time as he conquered Donington Park to become the youngest race winner in GP history - a record he held for over a decade.

In 2010, Redding moved up to Moto2 and took two podiums in his first year. The Englishman then moved up to the premier class in 2014, a series in which he would settle in for a full five years. Two third places were his best results. After a tough final year, Redding returned to the British Superbike series and won the series, which earned him promotion to the 2020 Superbike World Championship with the Ducati Factory Team.

After helping the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team to the team championship in 2020, Redding was a title contender in 2021 before eventually finishing third. With BMW and their M 1000 RR, Redding took a total of three podiums in 2022 and struggled a little more in 2023. He is now building on bringing the M 1000 RR back to the front within the family environment of Bonovo action BMW Racing Team in the 2024 season.
